Biography and Statement

Painting, to me, is a constant process of learning and discovery. Each painting brings new challenges and insights, whatever the subject may be: landscape, still life or figure studies. I am not content to simply report the facts about the subject. The painting must stir the emotion and invite the viewer to participate and interact with the statement.  Whatever evokes a second glance can be stimulation and cause for a painting.

I graduated from Indiana University – Bloomington with a B.S. in Education and a Special in Art.  I have been fortunate to have studied with many wonderful workshop teachers; some of whom are Edgar Whitney, Frank Webb, Tom Lynch, Tony Couch and Don Andrews in watercolor and Ben Konis, Doug Dawson, Richard McDaniel, Albert Handell, and Richard McKinley in pastel.
